Brumbies Run: The final masterpiece
For art lovers and adventurers alike, Brumbies Run is the perfect final chapter in the acclaimed Sculpture Down the Lachlan art trail in Forbes, New South Wales. As the latest and final addition to this extraordinary outdoor gallery, Brumbies Run celebrates the untamed spirit of the Australian outback, offering visitors a powerful and evocative experience of both nature and art.
A Bold Addition to the Sculpture Down the Lachlan Trail
The Sculpture Down the Lachlan trail has already become a must-visit for those exploring the central-west region of New South Wales, offering an inspiring journey that blends the beauty of the Australian landscape with the creativity of contemporary artists. With each unique sculpture, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in stories of the land, the people, and the wildlife that define this part of the country.
And now, with Brumbies Run, the trail has its most dynamic installation yet. Unveiled as the final addition, Brumbies Run captures the spirit of the wild, depicting the brumbies— the essence of this sculpture taps into the core of what it is to be Australian.
From the mountain brumbies to the light horse in Beersheba, to the bushranger’s steed and the picnic races winner, they speak of a universal language that all people understand. Above all they represent what we as Aussies hold dear.
About the Artist
Brett Garling is widely known as ‘Mon’ to friends and collectors alike. ‘Mon’ is short for ‘Monster’ – a nickname gained at the age of five, due to his fascination for anatomy and collecting of bones and animal specimens. Born in Pambula, Mon’s work is influenced by his childhood in rural towns, such as, Lightning Ridge, Narrabri and Dubbo where his love of the bush and its characters were nurtured. Mon strives to find the presence and character in his subjects, breathing life into his work, transforming clay and paint into a vital living form.
