These months are cool not just in temperature but also because it is the season for Frost and Fire – a flagship of Forbes’ events calendar!!

For the sixth year running we are inviting you to cosy up next to toasty fire buckets, fill your tummies with hearty treats from our food trucks, and savour crafty brews all whilst tapping your toes to renowned Australian music acts on the main stage.  Previous events have boasted the talents of Thirsty Merc, Sneaky Sound System and Vera Blue to name a few – but WHO will lead this year’s Frost and Fire? Stay tuned to find out!!

Relax with friends while we captivate you with Wiradjuri cultural performances, roving entertainers, fire performers and of course the magnificent Frost and Fire effigy bonfire.

Frost and Fire invites you to unwind over the weekend, offering a unique experience that celebrates the Winter Solstice. Join us for a captivating blend of starry skies, iconic entertainment, and a profound sense of community.

Of course, there are many accommodation options – caravan parks, hotels and motels, and showgrounds and even the odd spot of free camping!

Heritage Week

Ever sit back and reminisce about the good old days? Take a step back in time in Forbes for Heritage Week – become enveloped in memories of days gone by, of people of old, and reminders of how much progress has been made.

History is so important to this this once wild undeveloped country, home to the indigenous before gold panners and bushrangers heralded a new township once called Black Ridge, our town. It has weathered periods of joy and tragedy, floods and feasts, fire and famine, and will continue to do so with its roots strengthened by lessons learned from years ago.

This years heritage week is 28th April through to the 4th May this year we will celebrate the 160th anniversary of the death of our most famous bush ranger Ben Hall

For more information on Heritage Week and its activities, head to Forbes Heritage Celebrations | Forbes Shire Council

We will remember them…

We remember

Anzac Day in Forbes, NSW, is a deeply significant event, especially at our beautiful Victoria Park. The day begins with a Dawn Service where participants assemble at 5.15am in front of the Forbes Services Memorial Club and march to the Cenotaph in Victoria park. The ceremony starts at 5.30am, creating a poignant atmosphere as the community gathers to Honor those who served.

Later in the morning, a mid-morning march takes place, starting at 10.30am, with various schools, community groups and ex-services personnel participating. The march proceeds to the cenotaph for a service that includes wreath-laying and concludes around 11am.

The day is filled with activities that bring the community together to remember and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by Australian service men and women.

Lest we forget.
